Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole is to be the face of a new campaign for beauty product manufacturer L'Oreal.
The Newcastle-born sex symbol is to follow in the footsteps of global stars Beyonce, Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Aniston in fronting an advertising campaign for the firm.
Cole will be the face of Elvive Full Restore 5 as part of a one-year deal with L'Oreal.
Gayle Tait, general manager of L'Oreal Paris, said that the company already had a number of US names on board and needed someone from the UK to enhance its global appeal.
"We sign on personality as much as anything," she explained.
Cole said: "I have always loved the brand and have always wanted to say the iconic phrase: 'Because you're worth it', so to be given that opportunity is absolutely amazing."
She will be the first Brit to work on an advertising campaign for the beauty product firm since Kate Moss signed a deal with the company in 1998.
Cole was voted style icon of the decade in a poll undertaken by the Style Channel earlier in the year.
